When does FLASH 2018 begin and end?
The program will start on Monday, July 9, and closing ceremony will be on Wednesday, August 1.
When is the Orientation Day?
We have have an open house on Tuesday, June 26 from 9-11am. Students and their families can tour the building, find their classes, and meet their teachers. Attendance is not required. FLASH Jr. students will receive their schedules.
Where does FLASH take place?
For the second consecutive year, FLASH will take place at Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School.
What are the program times?
FLASH runs from 8:30AM-12:15PM. Students may be dropped off between 8:15AM-8:25AM and should be picked up at 12:15PM. Students should be dropped off/picked up at the main entrance to the middle school. Parents are welcome to park and come into the lobby area to retrieve their child(ren). *Please note that there will be a late fee for children that are not picked up by the 12:15pm dismissal time.
When are the registration dates?
Registration dates will be available soon! Each course will close on a first come first serve basis up until July 1, 2018. You may visit our online registration form to sign up!
What if I have more than one child that I'd like to enroll?
Each child must be registered separately with their own registration form. Although the system will allow you to use the same email address to enroll another child you must create DIFFERENT passwords; one for each child/registration form.
What are the tuition fees?
Students must be individually signed up for program. The cost per child is as follows:
$625 (if registered and paid in full by: 4/30/18)
$700 (after 5/1/18)
Can I sign up for a particular week(s) and receive a prorated fee?
At this time, we do not offer a limited registration option. Students may attend FLASH for a shorter period of time, but the tuition is still the same.
Are there scholarships and/or financial aid available?
Yes, students who are currently receiving Free or Reduced Lunch are eligible to receive financial assistance for our scholarship lottery. Please choose either option on the student's registration form and submit a copy of the approved meal status application from the Board of Education, which will allow to them to be entered in the lottery.
Based on the lottery outcome, selected students will be required to pay the following tuition:
- Free Lunch: $125
- Reduced Lunch: $175
***Classes requiring Activity Fees must be paid, in addition to the scholarship tuition. In order to be submitted into our lottery, students must be registered by May 26.
How do I sign up using the online portal?
Our Registration Portal is available through our Registration page. Registrations opens February 1, 2018. You may access our online Course Catalogue to view all of our exciting offerings available for students entering Grades 2-8!
What if I experience problems with the online registration?
If this happens, please don't hesitate to contact the FLASH Administration at FLASH@summit.k12.nj.us with your concerns and we will respond ASAP.
Can I receive a refund?
Because seats are limited, and your completed registration reserves a spot in FLASH, there are no refunds for tuition costs. If extenuating circumstances arise, please contact FLASH administration at FLASH@summit.k12.nj.us. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the FLASH Coordinator.
If you register and decide to cancel your registration you will be charged a cancellation fee of $50 after May 1, 2018.
Who will be with my child(ren) during the day?
The FLASH Team is made up of certified teachers who lead all of our instructional programs as well as high school and college students who are assist the teachers and promote a safe and positive atmosphere.
Can my child(ren) bring hand held games or cell phones to FLASH?
Since all of our courses require a high level of student participation and engagement. Students should not be bringing any hand held electronics to FLASH. Cell phones are allowed at FLASH but must be kept away during the program times. We are NOT responsible if any personal hand held electronic or smartphone devices are damaged, lost, or stolen.
What if my child has medical/special needs?
Please contact the FLASH Coordinator via email, and he will address concerns on an individual basis.
What type of clothing and footwear is appropriate for FLASH?
We want your child(ren) to be as safe and comfortable as possible. Therefore, we ask that students wear sneakers or closed toed shoes. Flip-flops and sandals may interfere with some activities.
Will my child(ren) have an opportunity to have a snack?
Yes, they may bring a water bottle and a small snack.
What happens if my child has an accident at FLASH?
Parents will be contacted and notified immediately. If the parents cannot be reached, someone listed under the emergency contacts will be notified.
